Diversified Housing Development

Diversified Housing Development, Inc. is a non-profit housing agency committed to the availability of adequate affordable housing in Baltimore County. DHD recognizes the importance of preserving and promoting the viability and stability of our county's' older neighborhoods through homeownership.

Diversified Housing Development was founded by Shavaugn Jackson out of a need for quality housing counseling services in Western Baltimore County. Since 2006 diversified has provided downpayment and closing cost assistance to hundreds of families. DHD has educated and counseled thousands through our monthly homebuyer workshops and individual counseling.

The staff and services of DHD continue to grow. Since 2006 DHD has grown to offer Foreclosure Counseling, A Future Homebuyers Club, and Weatherization Services.

Brenda Washington- Owings Mills, MD
Ms. Washington was a mother of grown children when she was faced with the tragic loss of her older sister to a brain tumor. Before her sister passed away she asked if Ms. Washington would raise her twin boys who were 7 yrs old at the time. Brenda promised her sister she would gladly take care of her boys and see out her wishes. The twins are now 15 yrs old and “Aunt Brenda” was able to purchase her first home through DHD where the boys have their own rooms and are living comfortably.
